A park just a few steps away from the bustling main street of a tourist spot.
A single cardboard box sitting alone amidst the overgrown greenery.
That was his special, reserved seat.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists, he quietly lives in a world of his own.
A tiny sanctuary found on my journey.

賑やかな観光地のメイン通りから、
ほんの少し外れた公園。

ぽつんと置かれたひとつの段ボール箱。

そこが、彼の特等席だった。

観光客の喧騒をよそに
彼は静かに自分の世界を生きている。

旅先で見つけた、ちいさな居場所。

A rusty wall, falling rain, and a little master of survival.

He found the ultimate VIP seat where not a single drop of rain could touch him.

 That confident look on his face totally made my day.

いつものウォーキングコース。

雨が降る日は足早に通りを過ぎてしまいがち。
でも、そんな日にこそ静かな出会いがある。

傘に当たる強い雨の音を感じながら歩いていると
換気口の雨よけを自分だけのシェルターにして

雨をしのぐサバイバルの達人がいた。

憂鬱だった雨の日の散歩が、

このたくましくも愛らしい「達人」のおかげで

特別な一日に変わった。

「Cat Scratch Japan 集会 in 別府」での一コマ。
メンバーと飲んだ後の夜も深まる時間だけど

さすが週末の観光地ということもあって
路地裏も賑やかだったな。

第2回「Cat Scratch写真展」 in 大阪
に向けての集会だったけど
展示に向けての話し合いってしたかなぁ？
飲みすぎたせいもあって覚えてない（笑）

でもね、

メンバーと会って

お酒飲んで
くだらない話をして

街を散策して

それが楽しいのが

自分には最高なんだよね。

At a "Shime" Ramen Shop./ RICOH GRIII

After enjoying drinks with friends,
we have a tradition in Japan of heading to a ramen shop for "Shime" — the ultimate finale to a perfect night.

I stepped into this retro ramen shop and felt like I had traveled back in time.
While waiting for my noodles, I noticed an adorable little counter assistant enjoying their own "Shime" meal behind the bamboo screen!

A warm bowl of ramen, a nostalgic atmosphere, and a surprise encounter with a cat. This is why I love exploring Japan's nighttime culture.

食べて、飲んで、撮影して。
本当にこの街での撮影は楽しい。
それは
メンバーの澁谷くんが

この街と人とのコミュニケーションが

普段から丁寧なことが大きいです。
彼がいてくれることで余所者の僕らも受け入れてもらえる。

河井くんは「移住しようかな」なんて言ってたし（笑）

飲んだ後の締めのラーメン

めちゃくちゃ美味かったなぁ。

The Heartbeat of the Backstreets

I’ve always been drawn to the "hidden side" of the city.

Whenever I walk around with my camera,

 I find myself slipping away from the crowded main streets and drifting into the quiet, narrow alleys. 

While most people are attracted to the bright neon lights, 

I’m looking for the city’s true face—the one that exists in the shadows.

There’s something incredibly peaceful about these mundane, everyday scenes. 

To most, it’s just a shortcut; but to me, this is where the city truly breathes. 

A stray cat watching the world go by, a blurred figure disappearing into the night, the warm, amber glow from a tiny Izakaya... 

these small details tell a much deeper story than any famous landmark ever could.

It’s these unpolished, authentic moments that make me fall in love with urban photography over and over again.

街も人も裏側の方に興味がある。

そして裏を知ることで

もっと好きになれるんだよなぁ。

裏って悪い意味じゃなくて
社交辞令じゃない本音に触れた時。

お互いに本音を曝け出すというのは
それだけ信頼し心を許している証だと思うから。

自分を曝け出せる
家族、仲間、友人がいてくれることが

人生を豊かにしてくれている。

街の小さな主役 / RICOH GRIII

The Tiny Protagonist

Me, a traveler.

The rhythm of an ordinary street.

But the star of the show was you, little one.

旅行者の僕。

街が刻む日常のリズム。

主役は小さな君だった。

猫たちが幸せに暮らしている
それだけで

その街を好きになるのは

猫好きあるあるなのかもなぁ。

僕が上京した2008年
東京にもこういう街がたくさんあった。

それでも北九州に帰ってきた2020年には
街で猫たちの姿をほぼ見ることは無かったな。

近くて遠いこの街で

猫たち、街の人たちと
交流しながらの撮影は本当に楽しい。
安く泊まれるホテルがあるなら毎週行きたいくらい（笑）

Walking Proud through the Fading Spring Rain / RICOH GRIII

Walking is a part of my daily life. 

On a rainy day like this, I thought I’d be the only one out here. 

But there you were— 

Walking with such dignity, even in the pouring rain.

いつものウォーキングコース。

けれど今日は、春なのに冷たい雨。

こんな日に歩いているなんて、

僕以外にいないと思っていたよ。

今年の桜の季節も終わった。

桜を意識し始めたのって
いつだったかなぁ。
10代とか20代の頃って

特に意識していなかったな。

意識し始めたのは写真を趣味にした頃。
僕はストリートスナップが好きで写真を始めたんだけど
当時、所属していた写真クラブで
毎年桜を撮りにいくという企画があって。
正直、桜？勘弁してよ・・・って思いながら参加してた。

「猫と桜」を撮りに非日常な何処かに行くことも無い。

東京にいた時もそう。

あくまで日常の中の桜の季節。

なんてかっこつけたところで
桜を意識した構図にはなるから
やっぱり桜は無視できる存在じゃ無い。


桜の季節も終わり

少しだけ寂しさを感じるのは年齢のせいだけなのかな。
